Getting Started

1

Assess Your Space

Observe your front yard for a few days. Note the sun exposure (full sun, part shade, full shade), soil type, and any drainage issues. This will help you choose the right plants.

2

Start Small

You don't have to remove your entire lawn at once! Start with a small section or flower bed. Learn what works before scaling up. This also helps if you have an HOA to deal with.

3

Choose the Right Plants

Select Florida native plants suited to your specific conditions. Local native plant nurseries are your best resource – they can recommend plants perfect for your situation.

4

Be Patient

Remember: "First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap!" Native plants take time to establish their root systems, but once they do, they'll thrive with minimal care.
